The Lake Wilderness Arboretum is located in Maple Valley, Washington adjacent to Lake Wilderness Park. In addition to its focus on Northwest native plants, the Arboretum features one of the world's largest collections of Western Azalea (Rhododendron occidentale). The Arboretum's urban forest and cultivated gardens provide the backdrop for educational and passive recreational opportunities that are readily available and free to the public.

Maintenance and ongoing development of the Arboretum, as well as a rich set of educational programs, is carried out by the
Lake Wilderness Arboretum Foundation in partnership with the City of Maple Valley.

Upcoming Event

See below for an exciting event coming up in the near future. You may register for this event by emailing Register@LakeWildernessArboretum.org or by calling 425-413-2572. For additional details and a complete list of other events, visit our list of classes.
  • Wreath-making workshop - Saturday, Oct 18

  • Join us in the Lake Wilderness Arboretum Nursery and learn how to create a beautiful fall or holiday wreath. Specific day and fees TBD.

These wreaths are very easy to make and the frames are usable for several seasons. We will spend some time collecting greenery and fall leaves from the Arboretum to use to make your own ornamental wreath. Pre-registration is required. More info.

Volunteer Opportunities

Regularly scheduled work sessions at the Arboretum provide a variety of volunteer opportunities for individuals or groups. Weekly, on Wednesdays, "Branches" works on landscaping tasks. On Thursdays, "TWIGS" meets for plant propagation, potting, and other nursery-related tasks, and on the first Saturday of each month, we have a community work party. Check our Event List for times. Other opportunities can be arranged by contacting us.
